Care staff
We have approximately twenty care staff whose purpose is to meet the specific care needs of the Service Users, and to provide a safe and homely environment for them to live in. 95% of care staff have completed a minimum of NVQ level 2 training in care. Induction and foundation training is in line with ‘skills for care’ mandatory training which includes manual handling, fire safety , POVA, Mental capacity Act, first aid, infection control etc. Most have also undertaken a dementia care course. Other courses taken range from: Palliative Care; Diabetes, Catheter Care, Care of the dying, Caring for stroke victims, Elder Abuse etc. Training is given high priority with courses being attended by staff throughout the year. Collectively, the staff have a huge range of skills and experience.
There are morning, afternoon and night shifts. The night shift is supported by the managers who are on call at all times.

Catering
Our cook has extensive experience in cooking and holds certificates in Health & Hygiene, and ‘Nutrition and the Elderly’. Reporting to the cook is an assistant cook who will fill in when the cook is off duty. There is also a kitchen assistant who assists the cooks in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.

Housekeeping
There is a housekeeping team who are responsible for ensuring that Bradstowe Lodge is always clean and tidy.

Maintenance
Fire equipment, lifts, hoists, emergency lighting, boiler room, electrical and gas are all under Service contracts which ensure that all of our equipment is regularly serviced and in good order. All services issue certificates for verification.
A maintenance person is employed to attend to the day to day repair, maintenance and decoration as needed, as well as attending to the domestic needs of our residents if they have small jobs which they want him to do. We also buy in the skills of local service people when more skilled tradesmen are required.

Laundry
Two ladies are employed to do the day to day laundry for the home including personal clothes.
